Do You Have a Very Sensitive OCD Radar? Find Out Below

الصفحة الرئيسية

Everyone has OCD-like tendencies, but not everyone actually has OCD. Many of us obsessively have to count things, or we check the locks over and over, and believe that specific numbers are lucky and unlucky. These things may seem a bit quirky but, when taken on their own, they’re normal and really nothing to worry about.
You may have a problem if you exhibit a number of uncontrollable compulsions which end up affecting your health and sanity negatively. When you feel the constant urge to perform certain behaviors that serve no real purpose and make no sense, or you repeat the same thought over and over in your mind, then you likely have OCD.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, is considered a mental disorder and it’s more common than many people think. In any given year it’s estimated that around 2.3 percent of American adults have OCD. Those who suffer from it perform rituals and activities in highly specific ways that make sense to them in their own minds, but to normal people observing, it all just seems so strange. There are many different types of compulsions and symptoms associated with having the disorder and the most widely reported ones include hand washing, counting and checking things, compulsively cleaning, and an inability to throw stuff out. These obsessions can be so overwhelmingly strong that people feel they absolutely have to perform them and many spend an hour or more doing them each and every day.

One of the most common OCD rituals happens to be perfectionism and those who are perfectionists notice all the minute details that others overlook. The slightest flaws or imperfections jump out at them and because they double-triple check things, nothing slips past them. The quiz below uses this need for perfection to examine and explore how sensitive your OCD radar is. If you are able to pick out the one different shape in each of the following slides then you may have OCD. If all of the shapes look the same and you’re not able to notice the differences, then chances are you don’t have OCD. Take it now to see where you fall on the OCD spectrum and don’t forget to pass it along and share with whomever else you think needs to test themselves!
