This time of year there are Christmas decorations just about everywhere you look. There are countless types of all different sorts of ornaments, from beautiful wreaths to the new and cool laser light projectors.
There are undoubtedly quite a few spectacular holiday displays out there, but this human Christmas tree is easily one of the most unique and impressive ones you’ll ever see! About 500 acrobats came together in perfect harmony to create the moving image at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in the city of Nanjing, in China’s Jiangsu province.
The show starts off with hundreds of dancers in the middle of a huge arena that’s been darkened. All around the crowd is bathed in blue with twinkling white lights, and a yellow gold spotlight shines down on the center. A human tower of acrobats slowly begins to rise into the air, reaching great heights, before they begin to dance and move in unison.
All around on the ground below hundreds of other dancers circle around as they too move in complete unity. Moments later they form a tree as they twist and turn in the air, dangling by invisible safety wires in a breathtaking display of art and pure skill. As the piece moves forward the combination of the beautiful lights and spectacular aerial choreography just gets better and better. At about the one minute and forty-five second mark, the display looks exactly like a giant human Christmas tree!
China has become world renowned for incredible opening and closing ceremonies just like this one. They spare no expense and create amazing shows that appear to defy human limits. This part of the show alone must have taken an extraordinary amount of planning, practice, and skill to pull off the extra-ordinary feats featured in it. It’s simply stunning and this is definitely something that you just have to see for yourself to truly appreciate. Words cannot do it justice, so be sure to check out the video and be prepared to be blown away!
